Trump Says US Used Truce to Replenish Arms, Warns of Potential Strikes
In comments to CNBC, Trump said he was “ready to go” if diplomatic efforts collapse, while still expressing confidence that a broader agreement could be reached between Washington and Tehran—one he described as potentially stronger than the 2015 nuclear deal.
He also claimed that Iran had been moving missiles during the ceasefire period and referenced the seizure of an Iranian-flagged cargo vessel, the *TOUSKA*, which US forces reportedly intercepted after it failed to comply with maritime instructions. According to reports, the ship remains in US custody, while China has not responded to claims that it was carrying material described by Trump as a “gift from China.”
On broader regional diplomacy, Trump said a potential currency arrangement with the United Arab Emirates is under consideration, describing the country as “a good country.”
Reports indicate that the current ceasefire, which was set to expire Wednesday evening in Washington time, has been repeatedly violated, according to Trump’s remarks. He also suggested that extending the truce would be unlikely without a new agreement in place.
US officials, including Vice President JD Vance along with envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, are expected to participate in upcoming discussions in Islamabad. Iran has not confirmed participation and has reportedly demanded the lifting of a US naval blockade as a condition for talks.
In separate social media remarks, Trump also claimed that US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in June 2025 “totally obliterated” key sites, adding that surveillance systems were monitoring the locations continuously.
