Turkish School Shooting Leaves Over Dozen Injured

(MENAFN) At least 16 people — among them students — were wounded Tuesday after an unidentified gunman stormed a vocational high school in southeastern Türkiye and opened fire indiscriminately, local media reported.

The attack unfolded in the morning hours at Ahmet Koyuncu Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, located in the province of Sanliurfa, when the assailant entered the premises armed with a shotgun and discharged rounds at random across the school grounds.

Sanliurfa Governor Hasan Sildak confirmed that the gunman died by suicide following the attack, bringing the immediate threat to an end.

The motive behind the shooting and the identity of the perpetrator have not yet been disclosed. No further details on the condition of the injured were immediately available.
