India Wholesale Inflation Rises as Energy Prices Increase
The country’s Wholesale Price Index climbed to 3.88% during the month, with the rise largely attributed to higher costs of crude petroleum, natural gas, and mineral oil, the Indian Commerce and Industry Ministry said on Wednesday.
Energy prices saw a sharp increase, with crude petroleum and natural gas rising by 36.16% compared to the previous month.
The manufacturing sector also recorded a modest increase, with the index for manufactured products rising by 0.88% over the same period.
Meanwhile, food inflation remained steady year-on-year at 1.85%, showing no significant change from earlier levels.
