Chinese Yuan Ticks Down Against U.S Dollar

(MENAFN) China's currency experienced a marginal decline against the greenback on Tuesday, with official reference rates reflecting continued pressure on the renminbi.

The China Foreign Exchange Trade System announced the midpoint rate for the yuan at 7.0866 per U.S. dollar—a slip of 10 pips from the previous session's benchmark.

Under China's managed currency framework, the renminbi operates within a controlled trading band that permits fluctuations of up to 2 percent in either direction from the daily central parity rate during spot market transactions.

Authorities establish this daily reference point through a calculation process that aggregates price quotations submitted by designated market makers ahead of interbank trading sessions each business day, producing a weighted average that serves as the official fixing.
