Former European Diplomat Criticizes Netanyahu
He described the move as an action by an "alleged war criminal" honoring his "largest arms supplier."
Josep Borrell, the former foreign policy head of the European Union, expressed his outrage on X, stating, "An alleged war criminal wanted by the international justice proposes for the Nobel Peace Prize his largest supplier of weapons, and with which he is causing the greatest ethnic cleansing in the region since the end of World War II."
Borrell made these remarks soon after Netanyahu delivered an official nomination letter to Trump during his visit to the United States on Tuesday.
This marked Netanyahu’s third visit to the US within a six-month period.
Since October 2023, the Israeli military has reportedly killed nearly 57,600 Palestinians in Gaza, the majority being women and children.
The continuous attacks have devastated the area, resulting in severe food shortages and widespread illness.
In November of last year, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, charging them with war crimes and crimes against humanity linked to the conflict in Gaza.
Additionally, Israel is currently facing a genocide lawsuit at the International Court of Justice over its military operations in the Gaza Strip.
