Trump says Musk went “off the rails” with his new political idea
(MENAFN) U.S. President Donald Trump has brushed aside Elon Musk’s recent threats to launch a third political party, dismissing the move as unrealistic and damaging.
"I'm saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely 'off the rails,' essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks," Trump wrote in a social media post on Sunday night.
His remarks were in direct response to Musk’s proposal to create an alternative political force aimed at challenging both major U.S. parties.
Trump criticized the idea as “ridiculous” and warned that it would only serve to create more confusion in the political landscape.
The dispute between the two prominent figures began in early June, after Musk publicly condemned Trump’s signature legislative package, the One Big Beautiful Bill, which was signed into law on Independence Day. The sweeping tax and spending bill drew strong opposition from Musk, who claimed it could significantly worsen the national debt.
"Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom," Musk declared on social media, signaling his intent to push forward with a new political movement.
