BRICS Denounces Recent Middle East Conflicts
(MENAFN) The BRICS nations strongly condemned the assaults on Iran, acts of terrorism in Syria, and Israel’s ongoing occupation of Syrian land.
Additionally, they reaffirmed that Gaza is an "inseparable" part of Palestine.
In a unified statement issued on Sunday, the coalition criticized military operations against Iran as breaches of international law and the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter.
“We condemn the military strikes against the Islamic Republic of Iran since June 13, 2025, which constitute a violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, and express grave concern over the subsequent escalation of the security situation in the Middle East,” the statement declared.
The document also underscored the critical importance of maintaining nuclear safeguards and safety measures to protect both humanity and the environment.
It voiced worry over assaults targeting “civilian infrastructure and peaceful nuclear facilities under full safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).”
“In this context, we reiterate our support for diplomatic initiatives aimed at addressing regional challenges. We call upon the United Nations Security Council to be seized of this matter,” the statement continued.
Tensions flared on June 13 when Israel carried out air raids on Iranian military, nuclear, and civilian locations, resulting in the deaths of at least 935 individuals.
According to the Iranian Health Ministry, more than 5,300 people sustained injuries.
In retaliation, Tehran launched missile and drone attacks, which caused at least 29 fatalities and injured over 3,400 people, based on data from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
